Education And Work Requirements For Cpa In Massachusetts?
I’m planning on sitting for the CPA exam this coming fall. I have 133 credits under my belt with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. I’m aware that there are 150 hours necessary in order to obtain your license after passing the exam, but the requirements are still a bit unclear to me. For my remaining 17 credits, can I take any classes at an accredited university, regardless of whether or not they are towards a degree? I was hoping to just take the remaining hours in elective courses at a local college – cheap and low stress.
Additionally, while I have a number of years of experience as a manager in an accounting function in the private sector, I noticed that one of the requirements was one year of experience in public. The one exception to this seems to be working under the supervision of a CPA in a similar atmosphere or function. My boss is a CPA, and I work in financial services for private investments, specifically in accounting and coordinating audits. I assume this would be sufficient, but would appreciate any additional clarification.
