Question by : How to get website traffic?
Hi all,

I’ve got a website set up, its about macs. It has links and downloads to various mac applications and it’s got a couple of beginners tutorials. Is there any one who has a similar website that would like help me out, maybe with a link exchange or similar? Also, does anyone know of anymore ways of obtaining traffic.

Your first most important issue is keywords. You should pay attention to what keywords (or key phrases) that people might be using to find the information in your site, and then each page should probably target a particular phrase. (You don’t have to pack the page full of the word or phrase, just be sure to use it a few times, especially in titles and headers.)

One place to get an idea of how good a keyword is, is Google’s tool (below) to help advertisers find good keywords. Your target is to find keywords that get between 1000-30,000 searches per month, because they have less competition, but still a healthy number of people searching. (Better to chose an “exact” match, rather the default “broad”.)

The other key thing is TIME. It takes time for a website to mature on the search engines. If you push it too far too fast, the search engines may even flag your site and put it in the “sandbox” – which isn’t as bad as a blacklist, but it can take ages to work your way out again.

One of your best tools for letting people know about your site is to put the link in your sig (signature file for your email and newsgroup postings) and forget about it. While people HATE it when you try to promote your website to them in forums and user groups, if you are a positive contributor to the group, people are likely to check out your site once they get to know you.

If someone tells you that you can make money fast then it is usually a scam. The best thing you can do if you want money is to spend your time looking for a job. Check newspaper classified ads, online websites and your state employment office. The best way to make money is to find a good job. These get rich quick or make money fast schemes will take your money and leave you with less than you had before you started. Don’t fall for it. There is nothing like finding a job. There are no short cuts to making money.

How many pages do you have that you want to be indexed? The number of inbound links sounds fine to me, but to get more pages indexed, you might need more unique content on each page.

I’ve heard that a CPA can give financial advice and make or help to make decisions related to money; as these links confirm
I am having trouble finding the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant

By way of analogy, and forgive me if my example is not entirely true, I think it is like a doctor to a nurse to a nurses aide
a lawyer to a legal aide to a file clerk

I’m sure someone with experience in the field will give you a better answer

I would think just due to the requirements to be a CPA, that a CPA would make the most money

Illinois is in worse shape. There is a story in our local paper today that the welfare payments can not go out because of a computer glitch. FOR 3 WEEKS!
