Typically most states will allow you to transfer your certification and credit. It’s a good idea to go to the Public Accountancy department of the new state–they should have rules and regulations for how to do the transfer. If you are moving the Florida, you can take a look at their site here, which gives more details about their licensing:
http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/cpa/business/licensing_pages/licensure_examination.shtml
From that site…
“Transfer of Credit (Endorsement)
If an applicant has passed the AICPA Uniform CPA Examination in another state, but has not applied for licensure in any state, the applicant may transfer the examination scores to Florida, provided the applicant meets Florida’s educational and other requirements. The passing score on the examination is 75, for each part. One fact that often makes candidates ineligible for this method is referred to as sitting rule violations (see below). All transfers are done under the “new rule” education requirements and the applicant must pass the Law and Rules examination (with a score of 80 percent) as well as the CPA Examination, with a score of at least 75 on all four parts. The application must also include a request for interstate transfer of grades, this form should be sent to each state where the examination was taken or a license was granted. You may make copies of the form, if necessary. Applicants who passed the CPA Examination more than two years prior to application, must submit a CPE Reporting Form evidencing 80 hours of continuing education with at least 20 hours in accounting/auditing subjects, and not more than 20 hours in behavioral. All of the CPE must have been completed within the twenty-four months prior to application. Any self-study courses must be QAS approved. A list of approved courses can be found at www.nasba.org. Non-QAS approved self-study may be counted as behavioral not to exceed a total of 20 behavioral hours. ”
Hope this helps!

I am in the military and will be deploying very shortly. I am a victim of the stop loss meaning my enlistment in the army has been involuntarily extended. As soon as I redploy I will be released from active duty. I have already completed y MPA and meet all requirements to sit for the exam. I would like to take the CPA exam while I am deployed. That way I am prepared for when the Army finally releases its hold on me. Are there any states that premit you to take a proctored exam overseas?

This is very important question. I suggest that you contact an advisor or an officer from the military department or contact a recruiter from military with this question.
However, you could request in a written letter for a CPA exam to be sent to you oversea and have someone supervises you during taking a CPA exam.
I had my boss from my previous job supervised me when I took finals online towarding my degree. It worked for me.

What should I do to prepare for the Texas CPA exam?
Question by CoaCoa Puff: What should I do to prepare for the Texas CPA exam?
I’m currently taking my last few required classes for the state cpa exam. I work full time for an oil & gas company as an accounting associate and I have a BBA in Finance. I’m preparing myself mentally to be ready to eat, sleep and drink accounting since I’ve heard that’s what it takes.
If you’ve taken the cpa exam in Texas, what can I expects or what should I be mindful of while studying for the exam?
Also, should I take a prep class?

I’ve taken all 4 parts of the exam and I highly recommend that you take a prep course. A review course provides the detail and structure you will need to practice and retain all of the material tested on the exam. Personally, I prepared with Becker and supplemented it with the Wiley CPA exam review books – I found the combination to be pretty effective (passed my first 2 parts, waiting on the last 2 scores). If you follow the schedule laid out by the review course and put in the necessary study hours (100-200 hours per section), you’ll be fine. Plus, a lot of the review courses are in a self-study format that allows you to study at your own pace, which is helpful if you’re working full-time.

If you have the education requirements for you particular state you can sit for the CPA exam any time you are ready for it. For getting your CPA certification you have to have a certain amount of work experience and I think it is the same for all states but you may want to check with your states CPA society to make sure what your state requirements are. I am in Georgia and to be certified you have to pass the exam and have either 2 years experience in public accounting or 5 years experience in industry working under a licensed CPA. Good Luck and I hope this helped!!
