Search here for cheap hotels

http://www.jetsetgotravels.com

It provides search option like near a landmark etc

But beware … cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel you are going to book.

Check the exact location of hotel from google maps.

Do I need to pass CPA exam or get work experience first?

Question by Ilovemypuppy: Do I need to pass CPA exam or get work experience first?
What is your advice for me? I have not had any work experience related about accounting at all. Do I need to spend thousand of dollars on CPA exams and review then get experience later? Or just find a my dream job first?

Usually, you interview for jobs in the beginning of your senior year in college. Once you land a job with a CPA firm, they will encourage you to sit for the exam and may even pick up some of the costs. You are then expected to pass the exam within a certain period of time (2 to 3 years depending on the firm) or loose your job.

I took and passed the exam a month before I graduated college which allowed me to focus on my new job. Many people didn’t sit for the exam until after they had already started working, which makes it much harder. Trust me after working all day, you probably won’t want to come home and study. I would also say that it is easier to pass the exam while the information from your college courses is fresh in your head.

If you think about it, you have already spent thousands on your education and given up 4+ years of your life, why would you limit your potential for $ 1K – $ 2K?

My understanding is that in most states you can sit for the CPA exam as soon as you meet the education requirement, but you will not be a “true” CPA until achieving the work experience.

Get a study program and practice practice practice.
Becker is one that a lot of people use and swear by, but it’s also the most expensive (about $ 3k for all 4 sections).
I use Exam Matrix. It’s about 1/3 the cost of Becker and I passed 3 sections on my first try. The section I didn’t pass on the first try I missed by 1 point, and it was REG which I know was my weak area (I am NOT a tax person, I’m an audit person!). I’m sure I’ll pass it next time.
I’ve also heard good things about Bisk and Wiley, but don’t have personal experience with either of those.

See if your school or employer has any special deals with any of the review courses or if your employer will reimburse any of the costs after you pass. Your local CPA organization might be another good resource for discounts. My local CPA organization offered I think a $ 500 discount on Becker if you had a student membership, which was like $ 25.
