I am thinking about getting my CPA and wanting to go about it the best way possible. I can apply for a masters program, or just take additional undergrad accounting courses until I have met the 150/30 required. Would I get paid/respected more by having my masters?

an MBA/CPA usually gets paid more than a BBA/CPA…… the MBA may mean 36 credits, but they will be more focused on business, and THAT is why the degree is more valuable than the 150 credit BBA.

the business is marketing related and has been in operation for about 11 years. i’m now making a transition to work for a big company in marketing and i’m doing that by getting my master’s in marketing from NYU. just wondering what i can expect after graduating as far as salary and job placement/position?

A master’s degree in marketing and some experience running a small business would mean you should have plenty of experience under your belt. In this case, in terms of marketing opportunities at large and profitable companies, a person with your background should at the very least be a marketing manager. Marketing managers are typically roles that require a minimum of five years of industry experience and often require MBA’s or other advanced degrees. Depending on the industry, a marketing manager of your experience level should expect anywhere between 90K – 140K per year.
Marketing as a field provides a very wide range of salaries. Entry level positions in marketing can pay anywhere between 30K-80K, and that range doesn’t get any easier as you climb up. The reason is that for any given position in marketing, the rule is simple: if you’re really good and you can prove that you are, you’ll get offered the maximum. Most people don’t, and that’s why there’s such a range.
Be prepared to fully and effectively market yourself upon graduating. Know how to articulate your unique value to the employer and communicate the attributes that set you apart from the other applicants. I’d say your small business background is a good start in terms of differentiating yourself.

Its a standard test, but requirements to take the test and become a CPA are determined at the state level.
Contact your state licensing bureau to find out what your state’s requirements are.

I am happy to tell you that I have joined a company like no other. New recruiters are making as much as $ 5000.00 a month in as little as eighteen months.
The business does it’s own training and has a step by step program, so no education is required. However, that you are already trained in this field ought
to give you a jump start above the rest. You could make more then $ 5000.00 in less then eighteen months. Plus you could skyrocket like a few of the others who are making $ 30,000.00 a month plus!

I have an accounting degree, am working on the CPA exam, and will complete my MS in Finance from a reputable school by next summer. I am looking for some insight as to what entry-level jobs might be in accounting, finance, consulting, etc with high growth potential, and that would want to utilize both finance and accounting knowledge. It depends on what you’re interested in. did you do any internships through out your degree? you could apply to graduate roles in accounting and consulting firms or investment banks. Finance is quite broad so there are more than a few options. see this site for more guidance.
