If you pass the CPA exam does it matter if you have a masters?

Question by : If you pass the CPA exam does it matter if you have a masters?
I am thinking about getting my CPA and wanting to go about it the best way possible. I can apply for a masters program, or just take additional undergrad accounting courses until I have met the 150/30 required. Would I get paid/respected more by having my masters?

an MBA/CPA usually gets paid more than a BBA/CPA…… the MBA may mean 36 credits, but they will be more focused on business, and THAT is why the degree is more valuable than the 150 credit BBA.

This time Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, look at the scandals of repaying American taxpayers with their own cash. They also check out the headlines on Lloyd ‘I’m Too Mysterious’ Blankfein, Bernie ‘I’m Just a Market Maker’ Madoff and Warren ‘I Love My Goldman Investment’ Buffett. In the second half of the show, Max interviews investment adviser, Michael Krieger, about “America’s Disneyland and Neo-feudalistic, Gulag Casino Economy,” financial war between the US and China; and about which nation will be the first to back its currency with gold.

Question by jordan: How difficult is it to pass the ethic exam to qualified for CPA license in CA?
I have learned that candidates, after passing all four parts of the CPA exam, needs to pass ethic exam to apply for licensure.

The ethics exam is not difficult at all. You will order the exam/class through the AICPA. I used the CD version. If you sit through the actual lecture/class it will be quite lengthy to go back and find all of the answers. My suggestion is that you open the test at the same time as the lecture. The test pretty much follows the class in order of questions.

You can submit your answers immediately online and know if you passed or not. No waiting! The AICPA will then pass this on to your state board of accountancy so that you can become lisenced.

Don’t sweat it, this is the easy part!

Any CPA’s??? How long did it take you to finish/prepare for the CPA and pass it?

Question by I get buckets: Any CPA’s??? How long did it take you to finish/prepare for the CPA and pass it?
Im about to start a career in a Big 4 CPA Firm and im currently 22 yrs old, just wanting some opinions/experiences/stories about how you prepared and got through the CPA exam while working full time, etc…. Anything helps…reading stories and experiences helps calm me down. I tend to over-procrastinate…this is one way of me procrastinating
I actually just graduated and will start working for a Big 4 firm in a week (September), but I have not looked at the CPA just yet. Im in the tax division so its gonna be in the middle of busy season so Im afraid that the CPA exam will just keep getting pushed back for me. I cant get promoted without it and I’m feeling the pressure to apply already…but I want to feel out the job first and have co-workers to ask about regarding the exam. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP, KEEP THEM COMinG!!
PLEASE ALSO GIVE ME INFO, IF YOU CAN, AS TO WHAT I PART SHOULD I TAKE FIRST. I KNOW I WOULD TAKE THE REGULATIONS PART SINCE IM IN TAX, BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS WOULD THINK I SHOULD TAKE FIRST. I have Becker review for free, just wanna know what i need to take THX
You’re probably my co-worker if you work in L.A. Steve
Note from above, not steve, but Double D

I am a CPA, have been 1 for 10 years. First took the CPA exam in November 1982, right out of college, but did not want to be a CPA then, so didn’t study for it. Worked in corporate accounting, and then in Public Accounting. Married and had a family, figured it wouldn’t hurt to have the initials “CPA” after my name. Left a CPA/Tax Prep firm to go to work for a bank, during mid-tax season. Figured it wasn’t fair to my old boss, so I offered to help him out for the rest of the season, and he agreed (not much else he could have done at that time since it was too late to get someone to replace me). I had the new job to learn (had already been in banking before, so kind of slipped right into it), also was helping out old boss, trying to help take care of family at home (twin sons, age 8 at that time), and listening to tapes of CPA review course late at night. Did well enough to pass 2 out of 4 parts at that time, May exam, and passed the other 2 parts the next time I took the test, November exam (My state is Massachusetts). Now I understand that the test can be taken on-line (First time I took it was in Boston, at the Armory, other times was out in Fitchburg), and can be taken one part at a time. I do think it was worth my becoming a CPA. And if you think you are a procrastinator, I took 15 years between sittting for the CPA the first time, and sitting for it the 2nd time. lol.
